Ever heard of a little roadster called the BMW Z4? It’s got a retractable metal top, all the creature comfort you could want and comes with the same award-winning engine as the 335i. Yet, somehow the Bavarians managed to get it wrong, as it never managed to capture our imagination as easily as the 1-Series M Coupe did.

That’s where we introduce our honored guests, the German tuning experts from Kelleners Sport, who set their attentions onto the most powerful and sporty version -the BMW Z4 sDrive35is.

We’ll give it to you strait: Kelleners say the’ve managed to boost the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine’s output to a massive 405 HP, which puts it on par with stuff like the Audi RS4. Torque has also been boosted to 39 Nm or 398 pound-feet. That’s not too shabby, given that the stock unit makes 340 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, or 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) with overboost.

That’s quite a lot to take in all at a time, so we’ll switch to some cosmetics so our readers can cool down before we move come back to the performance side again.

On the inside, Kelleners has added a three-spoke sport steering wheel, aluminium pedals and foot rests along with velour floor mats. Custom interior finishes in leather with wood trims are also upon individual customer request.

The sporting look is enhanced by the choice of a wheel-tire combination in the 19- or 20-inch dimensions. Customers can choose between two models, ‘Hamburg’ or ‘Berlin’, each of which is available in three different surface finishes.

Last but not least, special lowering springs have been introduced to reduce the ride height of the Z4 by 20 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear.
