We want to say the Land Rover Defender had gone offroad before it was cool, but that would be shallow. Instead, we're going to jump straight into our story, which is probably the most heavily modified British truck ever made. This is the Flying Huntsman 6x6, designed by Kahn Design to please the eye and cover the hard-to-reach places of our planet.
To make the British version of the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6, Afzal Kahn and his team stretched the Volcanic Rock Satin Defender 110 by means of 400mm extension to the bonnet, and 800mm extension to the rear cabin. They also made the bodywork wider by 150mm.

Out back, the team added a third axle and installed extra drivetrain goodies, plus a full set of 9" x 20" Volcanic Black Mondial wheel coupled with Cooper LTZ 275/55/20 tires.

So is this just a show car, pretending to be a rival for the G63 without actually being good offroad? Far from it. The Kahn team installed heavy-duty chassis, upgraded suspension and braking, hi-low ratio gearbox system and locking differentials to ensure this six-wheeled Defender is can go anywhere its owner wants to.

Most Defender models come with a four-cylinder diesel engine that doesn't deliver that much power. It's good for crawling up a hill, but the Flying Huntsman needed something more, something from the American arsenal.

The answer came in the form of a 430-hp LS3 V8, the stuff you usually find in a Corvette. The American 6.2-liter V8 does its work in collaboration with a GM six-speed automatic gearbox and channels waste through an upgraded stainless steel exhaust system designed by Kahn for this model.

The British company specializes in customizing 4x4, so they had a large parts bin to rummage through. The Huntsman has thus been equipped with a redesigned front bumper complete with X-Lander grille, fender flares, and a crosshair exhaust system.

The interior looks like it belongs in a Golf GTI, thanks to red leather sports seats adorned with wool Abraham Moon Skye Almandine inserts. Rough and ready? Not in the least bit. Considering a G63 AMG 6x6 sells for up to a million, we consider this a bargain at £200,000.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
