The most extreme hard enduro race in the calendar has a new king: Johnny Walker has won the 2014 Red Bull Romaniacs, dethroning the 4-time winner Graham Jarvis. Even more, at 23 years, Walker also became the youngest rider to win in this completely crazy, tough Romanian race.
In beginning of the last day of the 2014 Romaniacs Walker had a 5-minute lead on Jarvis, and he also knew that the race was his to lose, with his older rival surely set to drop any precautions and try to get as close as possible. Walker charged ahead right from the start line, with Jarvis unable to keep up with his pace. In fact, at half-point, Walker had already extended the gap to 9 minutes, making it clear that he was not going to just try and maintain his lead.

Even though he was very keen to go for a 5-win record at the 2014 Romaniacs, Jarvis had to settle for the second place, but he showed no regrets. “It’s a bit of a disappointment to come in second, but there’s no shame in coming second to Johnny now, as he’so, so fast and yes, he’s improved so much in the last year to up the pace… so I’m gonna have to go away and do something different,” Jarvis added smiling.

The battle for the third place was even fiercer, as Wade Young and Paul Bolton fought valiantly for the last place on the podium. Bolton was the fastest man of the last Romaniacs day, and he chased Young like a mad dog. After passing him, he zoomed past Jarvis and Walker, but even so, he was still 4 minutes adrift South African Young. With his highest hopes of finishing the 2014 Red Bull Romaniacs in the 5th position, Wade Young’s rostrum is incredible, as himself said. The top 5 of the Romanian round was complete with Andreas Lettenbichler, a glorious result for him, given the 2 discs he herniated few weeks earlier.

With the 2014 edition of the Red Bull Romaniacs, it’s time for some rest now, and soon start making plans for the next year’s Romanian hard enduro adventure.
