When Google received the typical governmental “ney” to its first model autonomous car, drivers hating it were already celebrating. Then, engineers added the typical car parts and solved the problem. Meanwhile, Mercedes and even Nissan are among the big players joining the self-driving vehicle game. Some hate it, some mock it, others can’t wait for it, but Jimmy Fallon’s pros and cons in the matter are hilarious no matter what category you belong to.
While Google engineers are currently playing with their car in the company’s Mountain View, California backyard, big car makers such as Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Tesla Motors already have a couple of ideas about the matter. But the future of non-driver cars are not just about auto manufacturers nowadays, since IT giants are obviously barging in and taking their share of the cake.

Intel just launched a hardware and software family named “In-vehicle Solutions” that will provide the computing power for next generations cars. These future technologies will power both in-vehicle infotainment systems and aid with the self-driving part. Then, there’s NASA’s plans around the autonomous cars.

Nissan Motor Co. has recently announced it signed a five-year research and development partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to advance autonomous vehicle systems and prepare the tech for commercial application.

Like it or not, things are getting quite serious about cars that act like mutant creatures, machines that act way beyond what their initial purpose was. And since Jimmy Fallon is currently one of the funniest comedian in the business, it was only a matter of time until the Tonight Show host would mock this subject.

The good and bad parts around self-driving cars the 40-year old television star found are obviously beyond any real reasons, but they are pointing out why the idea has nothing to do with driving anymore. Jokes like “Ford will make one for customers with small budgets. Lamborghini will make one for customers with small...” are building up qute a delight. But we’re not going to spoil it for you.
