Nissan thinks that they invented the convertible crossover with their ultra-ugly Murano CrossCabriolet, but they haven’t. The first Jeeps and the Toyota Land Cruiser were actually there first. Now the Jeep brand is back to the European continent, thanks to the Fiat takeover of Chrysler Group. But enough about that!
How about a really cool Jeep Wrangler that will let all the crossover people realize their selectable 4WD is basically useless. This is the Mountain Edition, for the outdoorsman in you. It’s green, it’s got a big V6 and it will debut in Geneva.
The exterior features a paintjob that’s called Geecko, but is more “poison dart frog to our eyes. There are also other colors available, like Black, Bright White, Dozer and Black Forrest Green colors already available in the Wrangler lineup.
Other styling cues include a unique Black decal on the hood, front Mineral Gray grille and painted high-gloss Mineral Gray 17-inch wheels. The interior comes with fabric seats with Slate Grey stitching and embroidered 'Mountain logo'.
The new Jeep Wrangler Mountain edition will be powered by the efficient 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine and the recently introduced 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar. New limited edition model will arrive in European dealerships at the end of the second quarter of 2012 in both two- and four-door versions, Jeep Europe says.
The 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine producing 200 hp at 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,600 rpm paired to a five-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Range Select (ERS).
The V6 petrol comes in the form of the newly introduced 3.6-liter Pentastar delivering 284 horsepower and 347 Nm (256 lb-ft) of torque, mated to the same automatic gearbox.
