After unveiling the Wrangler Dragon concept, the Jeep brand’s wishes of expansion to China and their interest in the Chinese market became clear. After talks with Chrysler’s Chinese automotive partner about the location of the production facility, they have apparently settled on one of Chrysler’s factories which is located in the Hunan province.
The Hunan plant’s purpose is to make around 200.000 units per year for Chrysler. Production of the Chrysler model is expected to start in the next few months. If Jeep were to start making their models alongside the Chrysler cars, the plant would need an increase in its production capabilities.

Last year, over 22,000 Jeeps were imported to China and their main aim is to increase the number of cars sold along with the number of dealerships (Jeep plans to open 40 new shorwooms by the end of 2012).

The main car to be built in China by Jeep will be a FIAT based B-Segment SUV, basically a replacement fro the Sedici. The new car is scheduled to be launched by the year 2014.
