Jeep Hoping to Sell One Million Vehicles in 2014

With 731,565 units delivered in 2013, Jeep has reached a new all-time global sales record, surpassing the previous one set in 2012 by nearly 30,000 vehicles. Although year-over-year sales increased by only four percent, Chrysler officials believe that the Jeep brand can break a million units in 2014.

“We are going to break the million mark this year,” Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said earlier this week at the Detroit Auto Show. “When you start talking about one million in 2014, we have really taken that brand a long way, and there’s a long way to go.”

Marchionne is obviously relying on the redesigned 2014 Jeep Cherokee and the upcoming “Jeepster” model for new record-breaking sales figures, but the one million-unit target means a hefty 37 percent increase. In fact, Jeep president Mike Manley thinks that the milestone is more likely to be reached in 2015.
