Jeep's CEO, Mike Manley, may have confirmed the Grand Cherokee is getting Hellcat power, but the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk isn't expected to land until next summer, which probably means we're probably one year away from the first deliveries. Well, certain GC aficionados just won't wait that long and we're here to bring you the freshest example of that.
The owner of the Grand Cherokee SRT in the video below decided to have a supercharged monster built for him. The result is a high-riding vehicle that delivers 713 hp at the wheels, hence the estimated crank horsepower number in the title above.
Under the hood, we find a Whipple blower, a Corsa catback exhaust, American Racing exhaust headers, a Boost cam, a built motor and other sweet godies. Other upgrades include slotted rotors and Rennen forged wheels, as well as a host of visual exterior and interior bits that are not too relevant.
The supercharger currently works at 13 PSI, with the owner reportedly aiming to up the ante to 15 PSI and install an E85 setup, which should allow the thing to produce 900 hp at the wheels - the numbers mentioned here were obtained using 93 Octane gas, but the plan is also to feed the HEMI with race gas, in which case the machine should jump to 1,000 hp.
For now, we're here to show you the Whippled Grand Cherokee SRT pulling a not-exactly-safe take-off in the middle of New York. And to get an idea on just how violent such an SUV can be, you'll notice the rear tires getting lit up during the ferocious start.
Returning to the factory-backed Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, here are some spyshots of the beastly SUV - as you'll notice, Jeep hasn't taken the camo off yet, which means we're still here on our toes, waiting to see what that air-hundry front fascia looks like.
