Frenchman Jean Alesi is famous for the period between 1989 and 2001, when he was part of glamorous world of Formula 1. He began his career racing for Tyrell-Ford, but throughout his experience, he has been behind the wheel of Benetton, Sauber, Prost, Jordan and, of course, Ferrari racers.
He achieved one single win in his career, in 1995 at the Canadian Grand Prix, yet he climbed on the podium 32 times and recorded four fastest laps. He retired from F1 in 2001, and his last race was at the Japanese Grand Prix. He then moved on to the German Touring Car Championship, or the DTM, where he raced from 2002 to 2006.

Next, he got into racing in the Speedcar Series, along with many other former F1 drivers, before trying his hand at Le Mans, and ultimately racing for Lotus in the Indy 500. However his car’s poor performance, and lack of interest in seeking a sponsor have now made the 48 year-old decide to give up his racing career altogether, despite announcing earlier that he would try his hand at the US racing series again in 2013.
