Jay Leno Drives 1910 Buick Bug Race Car

Nowadays, Buick sells a bunch of Opels with different grilles and badges. They are more popular in China than America. But just like most other established companies, Buick's origins are altogether different.

Back in 1910, Buick made this thing, a racing car with with a 4-cylinder 622-cubic-inch engine. That's 10.2-liter, more than the Viper or any other road car that's mass produced today. Still, the Buick Bug packs only about 50 hp. Don't look at it as being crude though, since this car had overhead valves more than a century ago.

We've talked enough about the car, so just watch the video of Jay Leno man-handling the 3-speed gearbox, pumping gas into the engine and struggling with a car with basically no brakes or reverse.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
