Japan, the home of strange innovative projects, has come up with a way to become a green motorist (of sorts) on a budget. A company called Modi-Corp has put a simplistic twist on the EV market with a build-it-yourself micro electric car with tiny wheels and just one seat.
The Pius (hmm, where did they get the idea for the name for?) is supposedly safe enough to qualify for the class-1 motorized bicycle class in Japan.

In case you have problems taking the Pius seriously, this is no coincidence, because Modi-Corp wants to sell it as a demo vehicle for universities, mechanical schools and technology colleges. So, it’s actually supposed to be an educational tool.

The price of the EV kit has yet to be released and should be made available closer to Pius launch date, which is in spring 2013.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
