We showed you the Janus Halcyon 50 almost two years ago, and it looks like the manufacturer and the bike have been having a great time since then, as Janus has teamed up with Papa Wolf Supply Co. and will debut sales this weekend, at the first Welcome East Community Motorcycle Show.
The kick-off Welcome East Community Motorcycle Show is hosted by Port City Mopeds and Papa Wolf Supply Co. and is a free community event built around a bike showcase which will include custom machines of all makes, such as scooters, mopeds, trikes, motorbikes and other vehicles. Awards will be presented for the Best in Show, Best Custom, Best Moped, Best Rat Bike and more categories, with prized supplied by the organizers and others.

Janus will bring the Halcyon 50 Deluxe model for sale and showcase. The bike has received a special trim, of course, with the New Hampshire “Live Free or Die” slogan complementing the paint job. Since we’re dealing with the Deluxe version, we can expect sweet upgrades over the stock trim: the Deluxe fuel tank, with polished sides and hand-painted pinstripes, and the fully-polished, hand-formed Deluxe oil tank, both summing for a $425 (€330) extra over the base $5,300 (€4,100) price, accompanied by leather accessories and all.

The Janus is definitely not a cheap machine, but it is almost completely hand-crafted custom beauty and this makes it really special. Customers who feel like riding a machine oozing true retro moped will get a 49.9cc 2-stroke jewel, with kick and electric starting, a 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-disc clutch, capable of reaching 55 mph (88 km/h) and a max power of 9.8 hp. Couple the curb weight of 173 lbs (78 kg) with the generous 3-gallon tank and you’ll be visiting your grandmother more often than the gas station.
