Jaguar Teases 3.0-Liter V6 Supercharged Engine [Video]

We’ve just shown you the latest spy photos of the F-Type roadster, which Jaguar hopes to bring to market next year. It’s hoped this will be a more affordable and direct rival to Porsches and Mercedes luxury compact drop-tops and coupes.

Now it’s time to see what sort of engine will power the car. To the tune of what is most likely 340 horsepower, the 3.0-liter V6 is introduced as being an efficient supercharged answer to all the world’s problems -”a V6 engine that efficiently produces high specific output.”

Supposedly, the car will also come with a big V8 from the XK or XKR, but we’d take this racy sound over the V8 every time. It sounds positively magnificent. Let’s just hope it’s reliable as well!
