Various sources cite an investment of $1 billion, with the city being chosen in front of other eight cities. The major of the city explained that the location was chosen thanks to the strategic positioning, as well as its water, electricity, natural gas and infrastructure resources.

The formal agreement hasn’t been signed yet, with the move expected to take place sometime between December 3rd and 5th. The plant itself is expected to be completed in just two years’ time and it should bring about 700 jobs.

Jaguar Land Rover’s other site outside the UK, is located in Shanghai, where the company runs a joint venture with Chinese automotive producer Chery.
