Jaguar Confirms F-Type and New X-Type

However, the British carmaker’s range could need one or two extra vehicles for the sake of diversity. All said and done. Jaguar has now confirmed that it has approved the X-Type replacement and the eagerly-awaited F-Type roadster, as autocar reports, citing Tata Motors CEO Carl-Peter Forster.
Forster also said that the company plans to further diversify its range, also offering an estate version for the XF model and a long wheel base XF, which is destined for the Chinese market.
The X-Type is a key vehicle for Jaguar’s financial success, although it might not bring much to the company in terms of image, being a rather compact car. The model is important for Jaguar as the company must offer a car that is placed in the growing downsized segment of the premium market. The vehicle’s main rivals will come from Germany (BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse and Audi A4).
Various media reports indicate that the X-Type project is already in an advanced stage, with the same pathway being followed by the small sports car. The exact details for the cars, such as the platforms they are going to use, are still unknown.
Other reports indicate that Jaguar is also working together with its owner to create a premium vehicle destined for emerging markets that will be badged as a Tata.
