The vehicle maker has signed a two year agreement with Dorna Sport, which runs the competition on behalf of the International Motorcycling Federation. This will see it supply fifteen Strallis tractor units and four EcoDaily vans that will serve as support vehicles for the championship.
Iveco's vehicles will be used for transporting materials and personnel for all the upcoming MotoGP events. This will offer a huge marketing opportunity to the company, as it will be associated with the championship’s image and will be represented in front of the live and TV audience.
In addition to that, Iveco will be featured as a title sponsor of the Australian Philip Island race, with the event being introduced as the “Iveco Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2010”.
“Iveco's involvement with MotoGP is part of its broader communications strategy and marks the further development of a sports-based sponsorship initiative which has increasingly linked Iveco to some of the most famous sporting teams in the world, including New Zealand’s All Blacks and the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team,” stated the press release.
This partnership follows an agreement initiated in February, which saw Iveco being named “Official Sponsor” of the Fiat Yamaha MotoGP team, which has a star rider line-up consisting of nine times World Champion Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. As part of the deal, Iveco supplied an additional fleet of four Stralis Active Space Super heavy trucks, which joined the two already in service since 2007.
