Italy Included in the 2010 TTXGP Race Calendar

After UK, US, Canada, France and Spain, Italy also confirmed dates and venues for the 2010 TTXGP rounds. From June to September, Italy will host four electric motorcycle racing events, as follows: Magione (27 June), Franciacorta (25 July and 5 September) and Mugello (26 September).

"We are pleased to officially introduce electric sports activity into the Italian 2010 race calendar. Until now we have been involved in some electric racing experiments but the rapidly developing technology in electric motorcycles, in terms of battery efficiency and weight and dimension, opens a whole new world,” Paolo Sesti, President of Federazione Motociclistica Italiana, said in a release,

“We also hope that our decision can contribute to the development of zero carbon, clean emission vehicles and that the advanced technology developed in this form of motorsports will accelerate the presence of green vehicles in our everyday lives," Sesti added.

"The Italian championship is very important to us in that it brings to the eGrandPrix the enormous history of engineering and style that the Italians do so well. It also means that, in 2010, electric racing will have a representation of the greatest magnitude at our TTXGP Final/UEM 2010 in Albacete on 24 October. We applaud all those who have helped to make this happen and are reassured that the pioneering spirit is very much at large, across the world," explained Azhar Hussain, Founder and CEO TTXGP.

Italian manufacturer CRP Racing is building electric super sports motorcycles exclusively for TTXGP for its 2010 series. The eCRP1.0 will make its debut at the Motorsports Industry Association (MIA) event Cleaner Racing Conference on January 13, 2010 at NEC in Birmingham.
