As far as we know, Porsche has at least two very important model launches this year. First of all, the Panamera will received a very important facelift via the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, followed closely by the all-new Macan, a smaller SUV that was initially nicknamed Cajun, short for Cayenne Junior.
2013 is definitely the year when it will be launched, since Porsche has already started employing the people who will build it. The Macan is a re-engineered version of the Audi Q5, with a sexy back and and tweaked TFSI and TDI engines.
A post by www.vierenzestig.nl, a Porsche lifestyle blog, suggests this might be it, the real Macan leaked by Porsche themselves. When we caught the photo in our sights, we immediately broke out the fine-toothed brushes and started analyzing it.
Compared the the latest spyshots we had at our disposal, we think the photo is not the real deal. The mirrors are slightly different, and so are the headlights. More telling is the fact that the LED strip looks like it's been photoshopped off a 911 and doesn't have the individual square bulbs visible in our photos.
The only problem of comparing spyshots with this supposedly leaked photo is that Porsche reportedly changed the design to make it more radical, which might not be evident on the prototype we saw in Scandinavia. In addition, completely different body kits might have been engineered for the Macan Turbo, which this appears to be, juding from the wheels, tinted headlights and bonnet bulge.
We'll just have to want and see, but at least we know this cheaper, slightly smaller Porsche SUV is going to debut in September at the IAA in Frankfurt.
