At the 2013 Detroit Auto Show later this month, Dodge will show the new Dart GT, a trim grade that replaces the R/T that was announced last year but never came to market. However, fans are surely anticipating the moment when the automaker shows the actual performance version, to be dubbed the SRT4 due to the number of pistons under its bonnet.
This is supposedly what it might look like, somewhat akin to the look of the new SRT Viper in some areas. Of course, hood scoops and blacked out design elements don’t make a sports car, engines do, and this one will likely have 300 horsepower from a turbocharged four-cylinder.
Right now, the most powerful engine in the Dart is the 185 hp Tigershark 2.4-liter with MultiAir technology from Fiat, which is being installed on the Dart GT. But the SRT4 will likely have the same 1.8-liter turbo used by Alfa Romeo’s new cars. Some reports suggest it might have a little less power than that, but it will be equipped with all-wheel drive to cope with the increase in power.
