Irmscher Astra GTC Coming to Frankfurt

With the new Astra GTC three-door sports compact set to have its world premiere at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show this September, Opel-obsessed tuner Irmscher is preparing its own take on the model, one that will allow owners to make their vehicles stand out without using an extreme approach.

The tuned version of the Opel Astra GTC promises to be a true eye-catching creation at the event, as the initial images and details point out.

The upgrade program includes a redesigned front spoiler, new upped and lower grilles, custom side skirts, a rear diffuser and a rear roof spoiler. At the rear the tuners have also fitted a 4-pipe exhaust system. In addition, the car sits on 21 inch wheels in Turbo design.

Unfortunately, the tuning house hasn't released photos showing the interior, but we are told that the seats, the door panels and the armrest are covered in fine leather that matches the car's red exterior coating.

In terms of performance, Irmscher has developed a new power stage for the new Opel Astra GTC by boosting the 180 hp 1.6-litre Turbo plant to 212 HP and 274 Nm of torque. Finally, a 30 mm lowered suspension is also included on the mods list.

Prices for the current Astra GTC range start from EUR21,750 (Astra GTC Enjoy 1.4 Turbo 120 hp) and go up to EUR27,855 (Astra GTC Sport 2.0 CDTI 165 hp). However, more powertrains will be announced in Frankfurt, with the sportiest of them including the future OPC to follow in 2012.

autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
