Irmscher 7 Turbo Presented Ahead of Geneva Debut

The German Irmscher tuner, best known for its Opel customization programs, has prepared a special gift for purist car enthusiasts: the Irmscher 7 Turbo, due to be presented at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.

The car is a modern interpretation of the small, simple, lightweight open-top Lotus 7, a car which has conquered keen drivers ever since since 1957, by offering one of the purest driving experiences in the world.

The Irmscher 7 Turbo’s heart is its tubular steel chassis. This houses a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine, which delivers 265 HP and 400 Nm of torque for the driver to play with. Irmscher has also fitted the car with a matching stopping power, provided by a high-performance braking system. The roadster rides on Revo design five-star rims, wrapped in sport tires. The whole package is wrapped in a light aluminum plastic bodywork and tips the scale at 725 kg.

The car even has a few comfort features for its passengers, such as heating, ventilation, insertion-mounted doors and a waterproof soft top. This might be compulsory on most vehicles, but for such a purpose-built machine, they are considered to be a kind of long distance travel “grand tourer” pack.

The Irmscher 7 Turbo can be yours for 49,900 euro. The price might seem exaggerated, but we have to consider that this is a hand-assembled, tailor-made racer.

autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
