We have to hand it to those Iranians! When they put their minds to it, they can really build some exciting stuff (hopefully, not as exciting as a nuclear warhead).
2010 was a year when the Islamic nation showcased more than one cool machine, starting with the Qasedak-e-Nasir electric car and ending with the more aggressive Karrar UAV. None of them however look as interesting as the Bavar 2 flying stealth boats.
You read it right, flying stealth boats. A whole squadron of them, ready to go into action against the western you know what. Packed with machine guns and surveillance cameras for day and night, the vehicles are the result of a year's work, completely done in the country.
But that's not the weapons these war machines will be carrying. Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Naval Forces lieutenant commander Alireza Tangsiri told Fars news agency Iran is currently pondering the possibility of fitting the vehicles with missiles and rockets.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the few countries which managed to design, build and use flying boats in a short time," Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying by CNN.
Of course, the stealth attributes of the vehicles cannot be confirmed. What can be confirmed is that the vehicles really work and they can take off from the sea, carrying a two men crew. The video below was shot during the presentation of the vehicles hand over ceremony. According to sources, three such squadrons have been delivered to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
