"Another" because, apparently, Iran has two of them: the Qasedak-e-Nasir (Dandelion of Nasir) and the Parax...But let's not get sidetracked.
The endeavor to build the two electric cars is at least admirable. The Qasedak-e-Nasir for instance is a two seater plug-in vehicle, built by a group of fourteen students in Tehran's Khaje Nasir Toosi University, presstv.ir reports.
The car, which was initially intended to be just a "we can do it too" statement (actually, as a means to an end for a Sharif University competition) was unveiled at the beginning of the month in Tehran and may even go into production.
The Dandelion (lion's tooth) weighs 700 kg and is meant to be used in cities. It can reach a top speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) and has a total range of about 50 km (31 miles).
"Once Qasedak-e-Nasir is charged, it could cover a 50 km distance in a city and if its speed does not surpass 25 kph, the distance could increase to 80 km," Asghar-Mohammadi, one of the team members was quoted as saying by the source.
The second of the electric cars, the Parax, is also built by a group of students, this time at Qazvin's Azad University. This one is about half the weight of the Dandelion, weighing only 450 kg and a bit "sportier" too. It can travel for 100 km on a single charge (60 miles) and can reach a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph).
