Lo and behold, the all-new Indian Chief Dark Horse is on its way, and Indian has just confirmed this. That is, what was only a supposition days ago, based on some California Air Resources Board (CARB) paper, is now reality. Indian Motorcycle listed the Dark Horse Challenge event on their official website, under the rally section, and says that the new model will be introduced in Chicago.
The Dark Horse Challenge will take place in downtown Chicago on February 13 at 4pm local time. The event will consist of a group ride down Michigan Ave which will end at Kaiser Tiger, with riders of all makes and models welcome to attend after registering online. Passengers are also welcome, Indian sources say.

Chief Dark Horse is powered by the 1,811cc v-twin

As we reported earlier, the CARB papers showed that the all-new Dark Horse is powered by the same Thunder Stroke 111 air-cooled v-twin. This means the Horse will be equipped with the same 1,811cc mill which currently powers the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain and the Roadster, capable to deliver 102.4 lb-ft (139 Nm) of torque and mated to a 6-speed with a wet clutch transmission.

The Chief Dark Horse has been in Indian’s roster between 2010 and 2013, and was often seen as a stripped-down, special edition bike. CARB papers also say that the Dark Horse may be a tad lighter than the Chief Classic, and this hints us about Indian retaining the minimalist (for cruiser standards) bodywork and accessories the bike will be equipped with in stock trim.

You can register with Indian for the Dark Horse Challenge, and make sure you comply with the requirements. “Riders must possess and present a valid motorcycle endorsement. All riders and passengers will sign an Indian Motorcycle waiver and are required to wear a DOT approved helmet, closed-toe shoes, long pants and eye protection. Registered riders will receive a confirmation email with further instructions,” official Indian sources mention.

Even though initial rumors said the Dark Horse was a 2016 model, we'd say it's a bit early for 2016, isn't it? Now that it has been confirmed, all we have to do is look out for spy shots, and wait for the 13th of the month.
