The Hyundai i30cw SX CRDi is Australia’s most fuel efficient wagon with a combined fuel consumption of 4.9 liters per 100 km, while the the Santa Fe R-2.2 SLX 6 speed manual is the most fuel efficient medium SUV, needing only 6.7 liters per 100 km.
Australia is not the only place Hyundai was highly appreciated, as the United States can tell the same story. Hyundai topped the charts of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy report. The Korean automaker managed to keep its promise and become the leading manufacturer in fuel economy. Hyundai managed to get ahead of important automakers like Honda or Toyota.
“A result like this doesn’t happen by chance,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s Director of Sales and Marketing Kevin McCann. “Excellence in fuel efficiency and environmental protection is an outcome of Hyundai’s vision to become a leader in environmental sustainability…something we saw mirrored in real world competition when the new Santa Fe R-Series took out its category in the Global Green Challenge from Darwin to Adelaide in October.”
