Hyundai Expanding European Production Capacity to 500,000 Units via Turkish Plant
The company’s Assan Otomotive Sanayi site was built in 1997 in Izmit, Turkey and, with the current effort, this is set to reach an annual capacity of 200,000 units by 2014. The factory now brings the i10, as well as the i120 to life.
The latest investment bring Hyundai’s total financial effort for the site to over EUR1 billion.The expansion has brought 2,804 new jobs, with this including the Izmit plant, as well as Hyundai’s suppliers.
The new development will mean that 90 percent of the Hyundais sold in Europe are produced locally.
