Husqvarna Nuda 900R Receives the 2012 Good Design Award
Whether the bike itself is truly regarded with such reverence or this is a side-effect of BMW's other 6 prizes (5 cars and a comfort system). Given the massive influence the BMW Group exerted in bringing Husqvarna back to life and developing the model range with the addition of street bikes, we can expect both.
The Nuda 900 R was the first street bike in the new Husqvarna range, and it brought back a spartan, minimalist design which still retained a sporty character and clearly stating that the new machine was built for asphalt aggression. Even more, it has opened a whole new range of possibilities, so we expect that Husqvarna outs even niftier models in the future.
“The world’s oldest, internationally renowned design award was founded in Chicago in 1950 by architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann Jr. It is presented by The Chicago Athenaeum and the European Centre for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies. For more than 60 years, this coveted award has recognised designers and manufacturers of innovative and visionary products, concepts and ideas that go beyond the bounds of ordinary product design. In addition to the criteria of functionality and aesthetics, ecological responsibility also plays a role" the BMW press release adds.
