As we reported yesterday, the Brits at MCN got wind of Husqvarna changing hands, and all rumors pointed out to KTM as the big buyer. Well, it looks like the deal is actually closed with the signatures on the papers the only thing left... but KTM's CEO Stefan Pierer is the buyer.
Pierer and Indian giant Bajaj are the main shareholders of Cross AG, the company which owns KTM, but Husqvarna was bought by another of Pierer's companies, Pierer Industries AG. The links with Bajaj are of course, very strong and we might expect to see some Indian money invested in the future of the dirt bike brand.
The next six months will be dedicated to seeing how can Husvarna and KTM cooperate. However, a new Husqvarna model is expected in the last quarter of the year, at the 2013 EICMA. No word on this new bike being the recently spied touring machine, though. We'll be watching Husqvarna closely this year...
