BMW’s been know to put together some of the best golfing championships in the world. They are also known for throwing in some rather unbelievable prizes here and there for extraordinary performances. Hunter Mahan was one of the guys that pulled an extraordinary performance in 2013 at one of these events.
A year ago, Hunter managed a hole-in-one on the 17th hole during the 2013 BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois. Back then, the representatives told him that he won an i3 but as the car wasn’t available yet, he had to wait to take possession of his prize.
Yesterday, BMW fulfilled its promise and presented the PGA TOUR player with his brand new EV. On top of that, to say sorry for the delay, he was also introduced to Melyzjah Smith that won a full, four-year tuition and housing grant thanks to Mahan’s performance.
That’s because all net proceeds from the BMW Championship conducted by the WGA benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation that grants full college scholarships to deserving young caddies like Melyzjah here.
Thanks to its profound charitable character, BMW’s tournament was named Tournament of the Year by the PGA in 2012 and 2013, helping raise over $16 million to the cause.
