No matter how reliable a Toyota is, you will have to replace its consumables from time to time and that includes the lights, especially the dashboard lights, which give you the impression that you need to dismantle the whole dashboard to gain access to them.
Here we’ll see how to replace the dashboard lights from a Toyota Corolla model year 2002, but it may work on related models as well.

It’s pretty easy and you will need only a screwdriver and matching replacement bulbs. If you don’t know what type to use, take one out and go to the nearest auto parts shop and they will hook you up with what you need.
  • First put you adjustable steering wheel into its lowest position
  • Search for the two screws that hold the instrument panel trim and unscrew them
  • Carefully then pull out the trim to expose the instrument cluster mounting points
  • Unscrew the two bolts fixing the cluster - there is one at the top and two at the bottom
  • Pull the instrument cluster out and turn it around
  • The bulbs are held in place by individual twist-off sockets
  • Remove the fried ones and replace them with the new bulbs. Also use the green transparent caps on the new bulbs so the dash light will be green
  • Put everything back and you are done.
