Reaching the timing chain is the hardest part, as you’ll have to remove a lot of engine components from the crammed engine bay. As expected, you’ll need a complete set of sockets, a ratchet with extender, a hammer, screwdrivers and a jack.

The following tutorial only shows you how to remove the timing chain, but you can check this link in order to see how the rest of the engine components can be removed. After you’ve reached the timing chain things will get easier. To take it out, you’ll just have to remove its tensioners – those two bent rail-like pieces on each side. Also, before you start working, don’t forget to put the timing in its top dead center position.

This is a DIY guide and, as such, you must be aware the procedures described here involve some risks. autoevolution cannot be held responsible for any possible damage that might result while following this guide.
