It seems a bit strange to put roof racks on a pickup truck as you already got enough loading space in the bed behind the cabin, but what if you are at a ranch and need to haul both a pig and a large amount of laundry?
That may explain why there are roof racks available to install on a Toyota Tacoma. Anyway, the procedure is simple and you can do it yourself with some basic tools. Here are the steps:
See the video bellow for details.
- Pry open the factory trim piece that covers the roof rack mounting points
- Take a Phillips screwdriver and punch through the plastic overlay to expose the three screwholes on each side
- Place the metal rack brackets on their mountings and screw them in place
- Mount the roof rack over the metal brackets, align it and screw it in place
- Glue the afferent trimming pieces
- Do the same on the other side.
