Right now, customers across the world are foregoing the practicality of their sedans in favor of the jacked-up feeling coming from a crossover’s stance. By far the most popular are subcompact models, with the Juke being just one example of a huge market success. What’s more the X1 is Europe’s best selling premium SUV.

Subcompact crossovers are not only better for the city cycle, but they also offer a cheaper entry into an automaker’s soft-roading range.

Honda has realized it needs something to slot under the CR-V, which has become a sort of family car. The platform chosen belongs to the Fit, also known as the Jazz in Europe and Asia.

This Juke rivaling crossover will arrive in 2013, according to a report from a Japanese publication quoted by Autonews. The Japanese paper adds that Honda could expect to sell up to 400,000 Fit mini-SUVs, mainly to customers in Europe and the US.
