Honda Unveils 2012 Accord

Offering a number of changes regarding styling, emissions, ride quality and handling, the new Honda Accord sedan and Tourer models will hit the stage at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. At the front, both models now show a redesigned headlight assembly and bumper. The headlights now have a cleaner, crisper appearance with the indicators now in a clear finish. On the top-spec models, the lights are bi-xenon and feature Active Cornering Lights to improve night time visibility. The grille looks sportier and the two central spars are finished in chrome. The rear has been enhanced with the reversing lights sporting a red finish. The rear license plate received some chrome garnish on all models except Type S grade cars, which have a dark chrome finish. The fresh exterior is finished off in three new colors, namely Alabaster Silver, Graphite Lustre and Celestial Blue Pearl. Inside the new Accord, a number of subtle changes have been introduced, including new seat materials and door linings. Type S models have their seats half-covered in leather that distinguishes the top-of-the-range vehicles. The interior fabrics are complimented by metal-look finishes on the hand brake, gear lever surround, steering wheel garnish and door inlays. The carmaker has also addressed the emissions issue for the Accord, as the model is available with a new 2.2 150 hp i-DTEC engine, which promises CO2 levels of just 138 grams per kilometer. In Europe, the Honda Accord Type S model is already available with a 180 hp engine. The 2012 Honda Accord will go on sale across Europe in April , with pricing expected to be announced at the Geneva motor show. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
