Set to return to Formula One as an engine supplier for McLaren starting 2015, Japanese automaker Honda has released a video previewing the sound of their brand new power unit.
The new engine is developed to meet new FIA regulations that require all Formula One participants to use turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 power units with energy recovery systems instead of the current aspirated V8 mills.

Honda, the third manufacturer to showcase their F1 engine sound, after Renault and Mercedes AMG, recommends you turn your speakers up to hear the new engine roar as it's fired up for the first time. Well, you can either do that or just fire up your vacuum cleaner... you'll notice no difference.

Unfortunately - and we've said it before - the awesome sound of the classic V6 turbo era ain't coming back to Formula One. You might as well get used to the buzzing you'll be getting next season by playing the video below.

Editor's note: Yes, that's the in-car vacuum cleaner that comes with the 2014 Honda Odyssey in the photo above.
