Japanese automaker Honda has just published the first official photos of all-new 2014 Accord Hybrid. Scheduled to arrive in US dealerships this October, the hybrid promises to offer class-leading fuel efficiency of 49/45/47 mpg (city/highway/combined).
Powered by Honda's new two-motor hybrid powertrain, the 2014 Accord Hybrid will become available with three driving modes that help optimize fuel efficiency: EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive.
When used in EV Drive, the Accord Hybrid uses the lithium-ion battery to run in electric-only mode at lower speeds and in medium to high speed cruising, while Engine Drive sends the engine power directly to the front wheels. In Hybrid Drive, the 124 kW electric motor and the 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine work together for powerful acceleration and efficient driving.
As far as styling is concerned, the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid sports the same design found on the regular Accord, but features unique badging, blue-accented grille and light lenses, LED daytime running lights, unique wheels and a decklid spoiler.
The new vehicle will be the first Honda hybrid assembled in Marysville, Ohio.
