Japanese automaker Honda has unveiled the Mobilio Prototype at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta earlier this week.
Developed by Honda Prospect Motor (HPM), the company’s manufacturing and sales joint venture in Indonesia, the Brio-based Mobilio Prototype previews a new MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) that will become available on Asian markets.
Honda says the Mobilio will be its first model in the lower priced MPV category, the best-selling segment in Indonesia, and that the vehicle was design based on “research conducted in Indonesia regarding local road and and weather conditions, and customer needs.”
4.4 meters long and with a SUV-like ground clearance of 185 mm, the Mobilio will be sold with a three row seat configuration and a 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder gasoline engine under the bonnet. Production of the Mobilio MPV will commence early next year at Honda’s second Indonesian plant.
