Honda Preparing New EV Concept and Plug-in Hybrid Platform for L.A. Auto Show

When it comes to hybrid vehicles, the automotive world’s opinions are split. Some carmakers make efforts to develop such cars and invest impressive amount of money in promoting them, while other automotive producers don’t see them as being a viable transportation solution.

Honda is an automaker that is part of... both camps. But before raising an eyebrow, let us explain. The company has made hybrid vehicle developments, with some of the results being the production Insight, Jazz Hybrid and CR-Z models. However, the carmaker’s previous CEO, Takeo Fukui considered that plug-in hybrids are unnecessary vehicles.

Anyway, Honda has moved on. The company now has a new CEO, in the person of Takanobu Ito, who is preparing to offer us his view on the matter at the upcoming L.A. Auto Show.

Honda will introduce an all-new electric vehicle concept, as well as a fresh plug-in hybrid platform at the event. The platform will showcase the “next-generation of Honda hybrid technology”. Takanobu Ito will present both developments to the world during a press conference that is scheduled to be held on November 17.

An all-new Honda electric vehicle concept will make its world debut November 17 at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, the company announced today. Additionally, Honda will reveal a plug-in hybrid platform showcasing the next-generation of Honda hybrid technology. Both the electric vehicle concept and the plug-in hybrid platform along with the FCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle demonstrate the company's vision for the future of personal mobility and its continued commitment to developing advanced environmental technologies,” stated the press release.
