Motorsport is great not solely because it exists, but because it has so many divisions and challenges that are spectacular on their own or put together.
While automotive motorsport has its branches, so does motorcycling, and some brands compete in both. Every once in a while, two companies happen to be partners in several divisions of motorsport, and they decide to do something special for fans.

Evidently, the occasion is also marked by a chance to promote their products, but it does not matter as long as people are racing, a great show is made, and everyone gets home safe.

Honda and Dunlop figured out they compete in both the British Touring Car Championship and the Isle of Man TT. So they brought their best competitors of the two divisions of motorsport and asked them if they would like to race, but with a twist - switching vehicles.

As a result of the challenge, Isle of Man TT winner and legend John McGuinness got the chance to drive the BTCC specification Honda Civic Type R. Meanwhile, double British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden rode the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP.

Instead of sending each racer in the respective championship, Honda and Dunlop brought them together on the Knockhill circuit, where they compared lap times.

The event is what’s known as a time attack, and it allows various types of vehicles to take turns in setting the best lap possible with their respective drivers and riders. As those that have tried it can attest, racing a car or a motorcycle is not easy, and requires massive amounts of talent and skill.

While the second can be honed with experience and practice, the former is something that comes naturally to a lucky group of people that get selected to race.

Surprisingly, the two racers managed to be quick even after switching vehicles. The feat is impressive in itself, as those that ride motorcycles and then get behind the wheel of a car can imagine. However, the two racers managed to get within 0.1 seconds of each other on the famous Scottish circuit, and our hats go off to them.
