The 6.2-liter Mercedes V8 is widely acknowledged as being one of the best V8 engines ever built. Its use in so many of Mercedes’ cars over the years has, indeed, confirmed it. Even in its weakest state of tune, in the C63 with 457 hp, it’s still an awesome powerplant.
German tuner HMS-Tuning have decided that 457 hp is definitely not enough and the car deserves more, so they’re offering a supercharger kit and a few exterior mods to go along with it. As far as exterior modifications go, the car gets a redesigned carbon fiber front bumper with LEDs, flared wheelarches, boot lid spoiler and diffuser all made out of carbon fiber.
Other mechanical upgrades include an improved braking system, KW Clubsport springs and 19-inch Jade R HMS-Edition black rims. All these upgrades are required so that the new, much more powerful car, is still controllable and is still able to stop properly from its, now de-restricted, top speed of 300 km/h (186mph).
We have left the best for last. The awesome V8 gets a supercharger kit, which is available in three stages: 625hp/805Nm(593 lb-ft), 640hp/840Nm(620 lb-ft) and 690hp/876Nm (646 lb-ft). The most potent of the supercharger kits will set you back a whopping €24,419 ($31,660) and an additional €3,451 ($4,476) for installation, and all the other bits mentioned above come at extra cost.
