HKS Tunes the Honda CR-Z

But the tuners have decided to step in and help the little car offer decent dynamics in order to make it worthy of becoming a member of the sporty segment. The latest CR-Z-based project comes from the HKS, a tuning company that is known for top spec performance packages, such as the GT570 kit for the Nissan GT-R.
But let’s see how the aftermarket company decided to play with the CR-Z. The car now uses a Hypermax II suspension system that is fully adjustable, allowing the driver the change the car’s handling. The new suspension can bring the CR-Z closer to the road as it can lower the vehicle’s ride height by as much as 37 mm.
The 1.5 liter petrol engine included in the car’s hybrid powertrain has also received attention from the tuner. HKS has installed a new air intake and sport muffler that allow the unit to “breathe” better and offer it a distinct sound. The engine upgrade is completed by an ECU remap. The company has not offered the value for the power premium brought over the engine’s standard 122 hp.
However, the tuner does mention that it has removed the car’s electronic speed limiter. This was used by Honda to restrict the CR-Z to a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).
