Here’s Another Electric Three-Wheeler Worth Mentioning

The microcar era looks to be coming back as more and more electric three-wheelers or tiny city four-wheelers are making their appearance. At leas over the internet... Who knows how many of them will actually going to reach production and become a success?

We’ll start this week with the Innvelo three-wheeler electric vehicle conceived in Germany by industrial design firm Form and Drang. According to a Technologic Vehicles report, it took them three years and €2.1 million ($2.37 million on current exchange rates) in order to make this rolling prototype you see here.

Unlike other tiny boxes on wheels in this class, the Innvelo uses a normal side-by-side seating configuration for two occupants, shielded by a good-looking fully enclosed body made out of lightweight composite materials.

The rear wheels get spin by two electric motors summing 6.4 kW (about 9 hp) sucking up on a 200Ah battery pack. It might sound a bit down on power, but the whole thing is said to weigh 400 kg (882 lb) so it does actually reach a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) and a range of around 100 km (62 miles), which should be just enough for your daily city rumble.

Unfortunately, there are no extra details at the moment. The team is probably looking for an investor to put the three-wheeler into production sometime soon. And they say it will cost between €10,000 and €15,000 ($11,300 and $17,000) depending on equipment version.

Bellow, you’ll find a video on how the Innvelo Three was designed using mostly a white wall and black duct tape.
