You might think that Transformers are as American as apple pie and guns, but actually, they were created by Hasbro in partnership with another toy company called Takara Tomy, from Japan.

The Japanese are quite into giant fighting robots and superpower heros in anime cartoon, so it’s not surprising somebody tried to make a real transformer.

You can forget about your manually operated toy, this thing does it all by itself, including fist-pumping the air, transforming from robot to car and walking.

The machine is built by a company called Brave Robotics and was on sale at Maker Fair for a staggering JPY 1,980,000, which is about $24,000.

If you’re thinking that nobody would ever pay that much for a toy, you’d be totally wrong. This is Japan, and they have life-sized, six-story robots there.
