Here Come the Yamaha MT-07 Tenere Renderings

Here's one of the first serious designs that try to anticipate how Yamaha's middleweight adventure bike might look like, and we hope there are numerous other projects in the work as we speak.

Rumors about Yamaha working on a new, light machine that can tackle the trails emerged recently, with the MT-07 being indicated as the platform that will be used for the build. At first, we were overly enthusiastic, as Iwata had announced they would be unveiling a new model in a matter of days. However, the bike that surfaced, albeit an MT-07 was the "Tracer-ised" version of the parallel twin bike.

Made bit more rugged than the base MT-07, its Tracer version was still in no way an off-road bike, and that made us happy because it meant that Yamaha's best shot was still to come. More rumors in the industry see the machine introduced this fall, at Cologne or Milan, but so far it's too early to make a call.

The first spy photos of the new Tenere showed a bike with a strong reminiscence of the Dakar bikes, with a tall exhaust and a very aggressive front end, and suspensions and a swingarm different from what the MT-07 has. Also, the wire spoked wheels appear to retain the classic off-road sizing, a 21" front, and an 18" rear, with dual sport tires.

This new rendering shows a much more refined machine but it looks really trick. There is a strong dose of Super Tenere in it, and this is quite nice. The fork needs lower protectors, of course, and the exhaust commands side cases of different sizes, which means that the rides have a limited number of choices available, at least until Touratech or SW-Motech mend the situation.

We can't wait to see more ideas and watch this do-it-all segment revived. Oh, and do read the MT-09 Tracer review, by the way.
