Hennessey VelociRaptor Driven by Jeremy Clarkson to Cross the Auction Block

Top Gear Series 22 was the last hurrah for Top Gear as we know and love it. Now that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have signed with Amazon, Top Gear memorabilia from Series 1 to Series 22 is hot stuff on the auction floor. This yellow F-Series truck is a perfect case in point.

For those who haven’t seen Top Gear Series 22 Episode 6, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor-based Hennessey VelociRaptor is a loud and proud beast. Jeremy drove it up a mountain to save Richard, damaging a tire in the process. This little detail didn’t scare Barrett-Jackson, the outfit that will try to sell this truck at an auction slated to kick off this weekend at the South Florida Fairgrounds.

Wrapped in Pennzoil Yellow and equipped with an LED light bar and blacked-out front and rear bumpers, the Hennessey VelociRaptor isn’t more powerful than the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, but more than that.

Heck, it’s more potent than the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor and its fancy twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost. Thanks to a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger, better induction, an upgrade to the injectors, and an air-to-water intercooler, the 6.2-liter V8 of this thing boasts 623 horsepower and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque.

The fury encapsulated in that engine translates into a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) time of 5.2 seconds, making the VelociRaptor a quicker beast than the Plymouth Road Runner 426 HEMI, Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG or the 1968 Camaro Z/28. Despite the awe-inspiring performance, this thing rides and drives like your typical Ford F-150. The drawback is that the VelociRaptor drinks fuel a lot faster than a standard F-150 equipped with the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8. According to Jeremy Clarkson, that’ll be 11.9 mpg (19.7 l/100 km).

Whoever is prepared to pay top dollar (as in more than the $95,000 retail price) for the most famous Hennessey VelociRaptor of the breed should know that their money will benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
