Hennessey Performance has once again done something very extreme. The US tuner has taken the already mighty CTS-V Coupe and turned it into a monster called the 2013 VR1200.
Only 12 of these cars will ever be built, all featuring a twin-turbo system that boosts the V8 to produce 1,226 hp and 1,109 pound-feet of torque. So what can you do with hat sort of power.

Well, if zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds and a quarter mile run of 10.2 seconds at 141 mph don’t impress you, the new top speed of 242 mph certainly will.

And yes, we know that’s Bugatti Veyron type speed. It’s hard to believe it, but John Hennessey is sticking to the claim and has even issued a challenge to Bugatti: “If Herr Dürheimer wants to invite us to demonstrate the top speed of our 1226 bhp 4-seater (on the VW straight away at Ehra-Lessien), then we would be more than happy to accommodate him.”

It looks like Hennessey is pickup up where Bob Lutz left off - pitting the CTS-V against the best that Europe has to offer.

Besides an all-mighty 7-liter aluminum tuned engine, the VR1200 also comes a rebuilt transmission and drive shafts, Brembo brakes with 8-piston calipers at the front, 20-inch that are also 13-inch wide at the rear, upgraded suspension, a widebody kit and a carbon fiber interior.
