Hartge, one of BMW’s closest tuners, confirmed its privileged status this week, unveiling a complete tuning range for the brand new BMW 2 Series models. However, the top of the range M Performance Automobile was left out. No word on why that happened, yet.
Even so, if you’re a proud BMW 2 Series owner and want a bit more power out of the engine to improve fuel consumption or have that perfect ‘sleeper’ look, there are plenty of solutions out there for you.
The 218d model, that uses a 2-liter turbocharged diesel engine making 143 HP and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque in stock guise, can be taken up to 174 HP and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque with a plug and play device that costs €1,187.

Moving up in the range, the 220d model making 184 HP and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque as stock is capable of 218 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque thanks to Hartge’s kit that costs €1,266.

The last diesel of the current line-up, the 225d can be taken up to 258 HP and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque from 218 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, numbers close to what a 3-liter diesel would put out normally, despite being a 2-liter. The price for this upgrade kit is €1,437.

The 220i petrol model, using a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine making 184 HP and 270 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque can also be improved and taken up to 218 HP and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque with a small chip that costs €1,687.
As for the M235i, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see a program for it but were expecting similar numbers as on their M135i program that squeezes 367 HP and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque out of the 3-liter engine.
