It's good to see American motorcycle manufacturers being supportive for the troops. Such patriotism and appreciation for the military personnel, active or retired is inspiring, and it's with pleasure when we can report on special deals and offers a US brand has for these fellows.

It's time to announce the debut of the Operation Personal Freedom, a special program from Harley-Davidson dedicated to the members of the military. Operation Personal Freedom offers all current and former members of the armed forces free motorcycle training in the H-D Riding Academy New Rider Course.

Motorcycles on the flight deck

The program runs May 16th through September 13 and is available stateside. A special event took place in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. on May 6th in one of the most uncanny places for motorcycles. No less than six riders assembled on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown stationed in Charleston, S.C.

Under the command of U.S. Army veteran and two-time Paralympian Heath Calhoun, they demonstrated basic motorcycle riding techniques on the deck of the carrier.

The new H-D program is available for all categories of personnel of all ages and both sexes. Those who want to apply for the H-D Riding Academy New Rider Course must visit a Harley dealer or head over to the dedicated Operation Personal Freedom web page.

PSB reports that Harley will offer a gift card in case the Riding Academy is not available in that area. "If Riding Academy is not available in a particular area, Harley-Davidson will issue a Harley-Davidson gift card totaling the cost of the certified motorcycle safety program," the mentioned source adds.
