Gumpert Releases 40th Apollo
Gumpert says that the next year will bring no less than 25 cars, which will be delivered in the whole world. However, in order to reach this goal, Gumpert has to design a right-hand drive car for special markets such as Asia and Australia and, according to founder Roland Gumpert, this is one of the main goals in 2009.
"Needless to say, we would like to further expand our distribution network, mostly towards the East, so Russia and the Asian region or Australia. At the moment we are thinking in terms of the latter two markets as well as about a right-hand drive car,” he said in a statement.
Gumpert's Apollo isn't only a high-performance car but also a vehicle focused on safety, as the company's founder himself explained. "Since the beginning, we have placed especially great importance on safety. The tube frame of the apollo is made from chromium molybdenum steel which is also used in the building of aeroplanes. It already fulfils standard international design specifications of the FIA motor sport authorities,” he explained.
And in case you're wondering what's so special about this car, you should probably know that it boasts a 4.2-liter twin turbo V8 engine that generates a maximum power of 650 hp combined with a torque of 850 Nm. Maximum speed has been rated at 224 mph (that's about 360 km/h) with a 0 to 100km/h acceleration done in 3 seconds.
