Green Carbon McLaren P1 Arrives at Mecum Auction, Looks Insane

From a distance and in the press photos, this McLaren P1 looked like something the Joker from Suicide Squad would drive. However, the amazing carbon fiber P1 built by MSO in the color of money has arrived at the Mecum Auction today, and it's looking for a new owner.

All things considered, the designers probably didn't want to make a $100 bill on wheels. British racing green goes well with any sportscar, but the P1 could be the exception. This epitome of McLaren design has the lines of a flying saucer, so "classic" doesn't suit it as well as it does a MINI.

McLaren P1s are very rare and finding one for sale in any color is an opportunity. So we expect bidders will be tripping over themselves during this week's Mecum Auctions event.

This car is estimated at $2.5 to $3 million, but it could go much higher than that, landing the current owner a very hefty profit. That's because this is series number 000002, the earliest P1 serial number offered to the public.

Being the earliest production P1, it was assembled in 2014. However, in 2015, McLaren announced that it would offer a handful of owners the opportunity to switch to an exposed carbon fiber body. And this guy did just that.

From all the 375 units, this is the only McLaren P1 in the world with a green body and green wheels. However, it's worth knowing that there's a blue twin brother that just got revealed during the Geneva Motor Show.

Besides being the first customer P1, it comes with a few added perks, such as leather seats instead of Alcantara, green stitching, and Meridian sound system. The cabin kind of reminds us of the old Ford GT40 in many ways, even though it's so high tech, which is probably not a coincidence.
